Actor Amitabh Bachchan had more than one reason to celebrate on his birthday. It was disclosed on October 11, when the star turned 64 years old that the French government has decided to honour him with its highest civilian distinction, the Officer of the Legion of Honour.A spokesperson of the French Embassy said, "France has decided to honour Amitabh Bachchan with the award for his contribution to Indian and nterantional cultural life."
She also said that the French ambassador will speak soon to with Amitabh Bachchan to discuss the details regarding the award.
After a successful second innings in the Hindi film industry Bachchan has not only proved his critics wrong but has also become the favourite of international award committees. Earlier this year in July, Bachchan was conferred with an honorary degree of Doctorate of Arts by De Montfort University in Leicester, United Kingdom for his contribution to the movie business in India.
Amitabh Bachchan remained unavailable for comment.
