Katrina's New Year performance cancelled

The last week, tragedy has resulted in lot of events, weddings and parties getting cancelled or postponed. The latest casualty being the New Years' Eve celebrations at J W Marriott in Juhu, where Katrina Kaif was to perform, has been cancelled.

People are in no mood to celebrate New year's Eve or and event in that matter. Out of concern for people and security issues, many five-star hotels are cancelling their New Year functions. However Sahara Star, where Bipasha Basu is to perform, are going ahead with their party.

Khushnooma Kapadia, Country Director, Marketing & Communications Marriott Group of Hotels says, "In the wake of the recent events, as a mark of solidarity and support, we have decided to call off the New Year celebrations at the J W Marriott Mumbai and the Renaissance Mumbai Hotel & Convention Centre. "

Katrina Kaif adds, "After discussing with the authorities and the international Marriott office I think they have decided to call off the show in the interest of safety."

When quizzed whether she was disappointed about the cancellation of her big event, Katrina says, "I think in the light of the current situation there are more important matters to be concerned with; so no, I don't mind."

Nandan Jha, PRO of Sahara Star, says, "There is no news from the management as yet. At present, we are going ahead with the New Year function with Bipasha Basu."
