BHOOL BHULAIYAA completes 200 days

The excitement that surrounds BHOOL BHULAIYAA simply refuses to die. One of the biggest blockbusters last year, the film completes 200 days on April 28, 2008. Directed by Priyadarshan and produced by Bhushan Kumar of T-Series, BHOOL BHULAIYAA opened to a gratifying response and had a stupendous run at theatres all over India and even abroad. The film was truly admired by the cine-goers for its mild comedy and psychological suspense. Apart from Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Shiney Ahuja and Amisha Patel, the film also stars the comic jodi of Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav along with the veterans Asrani, Vikram Gokhale and Manoj Joshi who come together to complete the team.

BHOOL BHULAIYAA is a remake of a Malyalam hit, which was also remade as CHANDRAMUKHI in Tamil. While this film was predominantly a dramatic film with strong angles of myth and horror, BHOOL BHULAIYAA suggests a comedy, though myth is an underlying force. It successfully grips the audiences' interest by mysterious turn of events and is a perfect blend of thrill and humor revealing undiscovered dimensions of human psychology.

Akshay Kumar: The highest paid actor in India!

Can you believe this? After churning out four hits in a row during 2007, Akshay Kumar is now charging over Rs 20 crore for a film!

Similarly, Akshay hit films during 2007 - the maximum by any actor in Bollywood - include HEYY BABYY, NAMASTE LONDON, BHOOL BHULAIYA and WELCOME. And, according to industry sources, Akshay has hiked his price and signed the next film by Venus Records for a whopping Rs 22 crore.

Although Akshay is far behind Amitabh Bachchan or Shah Rukh Khan as far as status value in the industry, success has not gone to the lad's head and he is neither interested in any competition with Big B or King Khan. On the other hand, sources close to Akshay say that he is inspired by Rajnikanth who has been charging Rs 16 crore per film following the runaway success of 'SHIVAJI - THE BOSS'. And Akki himself says that he is not too interested in past performances, but is working hard to give more hit films this year.

Akshay's consistency in delivering hit films has already earned him the title of 'Hindi Film Hit Machine' in Bollywood circles. If the films Akshay is doing now are any indication, the year ahead will see him doing a lot of action on celluloid. In fact, last year, most of Akki's movies were comedies.

Akshay's next film is Nikhil Advani's big budget adventure flick 'CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA' which depicts a part of the actor's life and is estimated to cost a whopping Rs 100 crore making it one of the most costliest films made so far! We sincerely, hope that the New Year will see Akki rising to greater heights in all regards.

The gap is quite pronounced in the US and very perceptible in the UK.

Checking out the actual grosses in the UK, during the first weekend, BHOOL BHULAIYAA collected $598,341 with an impressive print average of $13,296. In comparision, LAAGA CHUNARI MEIN DAAG obtained $501,714 with a good print average of $11,149.

This comes as a big surprise because the Yash Raj banner is considered a giant in the Overseas, specially with movies that have a heavy duty cast and focus on Indian traditions and culture.

Court Dismisses Notice of Motion against 'Hare Ram Hare Krishna' Song

BHOOL BHULAIYAA which has taken the nation by storm with its hit song 'Hare Ram Hare Krishna' has had to face its share of brickbats too!!! Eccha Foundation, an NGO, had filed a notice against the Producers T-Series for objectionable scenes depicting Lord Buddha in the hugely popular song. But the City Civil Court dismissed the notice of motion as the Producers have voluntarily deleted the said objectionable scenes from the song and secured the censor certificate. The producers have done so as they do not wish to hurt the religious sentiments of the people.

The film, BHOOL BHULAIYAA has surprised one and all, with the majority expecting it to be a comedy caper. But this psychological-thriller has definitely astounded the public with its surprise element. This T-Series film is directed by Priyadarshan and Produced by Bhushan Kumar & Krishan Kumar and stars Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Shiney Ahuja, Ameesha Patel, Paresh Rawal & Rajpal Yadav.

BHOOL BHULAIYAA - Get scared and laugh!

Strange as our headline may sound, but that is how the leading man of BHOOL BHULAIYAA, Akshay Kumar, sums up the eagerly awaited 'Eid' release - One will feel scared but will also feel like laughing. Elaborating further, the top star describes the movie as a psychological-horror thriller, with lots of comedy.
While we are confused about the above and will only be able to understand it after watching the remake of the Malayalam blockbuster, MANICHITHRATHAZU, on-screen, here is another interesting tid-bit about BHOOL BHULAIYAA. As per the buzz, the movie also has an interesting split-personality angle!

Releasing with about 600-650 prints this Friday, BHOOL BHULAIYAA is expected to commence a good innings at the box-office.
