Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu Celebrate Their 42nd Wedding Anniversary Today

Bollywood’s golden couple, the legendary Dilip Kumar and yesteryear actress Saira Banu have been together for over four decades, despite what people had initially thought of the May-December pairing.

Saira had sacrificed her career when she was at the peak of stardom in the 60's only to be with the man she loved. "A home, a marriage and a relationship requires total devotion to flourish and stay forever. Work and home cannot be built together. One side is inevitably neglected and we only realize this when it starts slipping away," according to Saira.

Dilip Kumar was recently hospitalized because of a urinary tract infection but now the actor is back at home. "He is better now, he looks cheerful, and is taking his regular walks," says Saira. When asked about their relationship, she mentions, "We feel blessed. It's a gift to grow old with the person you love. I am lucky to be his wife."

We agree with Saira that forty two years of marriage is defintely something to be proud of, especially with a spouse that's twenty years older!
