Madhuri’s Kolhapuri connection!

Madhuri has been married for years now and yet her charm and beauty never fails to engulf her admirers!

The beautiful actress paid a visit to Kolhapur, a city in Maharashtra recently while she was in India to receive her Padmashree and left no stone unturned to please her Kolhapuri fans!

“I love Kolhapur and everything about this place! I remember when I was here for the shoot of Prem Granth, I used to live on bhakri (rotis made from the mixture of jowar and wheat flour) and Thecha (mixture of green chillies, groundnut powder and onions)! The bhakri-thecha combination is supposed to be extremely spicy but I in spite of being a Mumbaikar enjoyed this local speciality of Kolhapur”, revealed Madhuri.

Mads didn’t stop enthralling her Kolhapuri fans there, she went ahead and displayed her singing skills as she sang her famous dance number from her film Anjaam called, “Mein Kolhapur Se Aayi Hoon’!

Her efforts to oblige the crowd and their love for her were definitely appreciated as her fans couldn’t get enough of the actor and blew whistles after every second of her speech!

Now that’s what we call...Madhuri mania!

Kamal Hassan’s Dashaavataram

My ten different roles are the USP of Dashaavataram . But I must thank my make up artist, Micheal Wesmore for it. He was the man who has helped me. He is my guru and mentor. He doesn’t like being called that but I could not go ahead with the script if he had not agreed. I used to spend five hours only in makeup. What was interesting is that I have started respecting women more after that

I know Dasavtharam is going to be a hit. I can’t say how big. I know I sound pompous by saying that, but we have got a U certificate for the film, which will be enjoyed by all age groups. We are planning a worldwide release with around 1,000 prints
I feel film promotion has become extremely important and I don’t think it’s new. That has always been the trend. The loudest seller in a bazaar attracts attention. I have always felt that the loudest crying child gets the milk. I feel the promotion has to be on a massive scale.

Jackie Chan was a special guest for the music launch. I had never met him before, but I am a huge fan. I only knew him as a star, but today after meeting him, I have a new friend. He said he would like to work with me. It was nice to hear that. I stressed on this point and I hope it works.

Similarly my fans expressed desire to see Kamal Hasan and Rajnikant in one frame. We too keep talking about it but it seems we just keep talking about it.

No time for Moss!

The supermodel visited the Dostana sets in Miami but the film’s cast left before she arrived

Karan Johar’s Dostana, directed by Tarun Mansukhani, which is being canned in Miami had a surprise guest on the sets. International supermodel Kate Moss visited the sets of the film to see the way a B-Town production functions. She met Tarun but lead actors Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham and Priyanka Chopra couldn’t get to meet her as they all had left for the day! KJo also was not present.

Kate was doing a cover shoot for an American fashion magazine in Miami. She was doing a recce with the production team when someone said a Bollywood movie was being shoot nearby. That’s when Kate decided to drop in KJo’s film set. She and the magazine’s executives asked Tarun’s permission to shoot on their sets but Tarun couldn’t take a call as his producer, Karan had already left for India.

A source from the sets says, “The shooting has been going on a hectic pace, but it ground to a halt when Kate dropped in on the sets. She saw some scenes which were canned during the day on the monitor and asked many questions about the shoot and the cast.”

Karan Johar and Tarun Mansukhani remained unavailable for comment.

Sikandar's entry costs a bomb

Sikandar Kher’s introductory scene in Woodstock Villa cost the makers a cool 1.5 crore

For Sikandar Kher’s silver screen debut with Woodstock Villa, producer Hansal Mehta filmed a introductory sequence with the newcomer, which cost them a cool Rs 1.5 crore.

A glimpse of the same can also been seen in the teaser promos currently on air. Sikandar is seen riding a Yamaha MT01 bike with smoke in the background.

Hansal Mehta is hesitant to talk about the amount he spent on the scene, “We have spent freely and the scene looks amazing. I wanted to give Sikandar an entry like no newcomer has got.

Something like Tom Cruise did in one of his early movies, Days of Thunder. It took us three days to finish this shoot.”

About the film Hansal says, “It’s a film with unexpected twists and turns at regular intervals.

It is a racy thriller and will keep the audiences on the edge of their seats from start to finish.”

Mehta calls Sikandar “a house of talent”. He says, “I always knew he was someone to look forward to, given the body of work of his parents.

Besides, he oozes confidence and is a delight to work with. Even Neha is going to be a surprise package of the film and she has done a commendable job.”

Katrina adds 12 crores to her account

With the world going corporate, Bollywood and its inhabitants are most kicked by the moolah the industry is attracting. And the rich just seem to be getting richer. We all know of Katrina Kaif’s popular two-film deal with a production house that fetched her six crores.

Well, history has repeated itself and Kats has bagged a similar deal with another production house. She has once again been signed on to do two films for six crores.

Talk about having a beautiful face, a fab figure, the hunkiest boyfriend (that is if Kats and Sallu are still seeing each other) and a fat bank balance. Some people just have all the luck in the world!

Shahid going solo

Shahid Kapoor is one hero who has carried solo hero films on his shoulders. What's more the films have turned out to be box-office bonanzas for his producers as well. The success of Vivah and Jab We Met has made it evident that Shahid Kapoor is the "Hero" literally!

And incidentally all forthcoming films have Shahid in the solo lead Vishal Bharadwaj, who's Omkara was a multi-starrer, is all set to embark on a film with Shahid as the only hero of the film. Ken Ghosh's tentatively titled Star will also have Shahid in the solo lead. And on the top of it, Aziz Mirza's Kismet Konnection is yet another solo lead with Shahid to hit theatres soon.

It may be noted that after working with powerhouse performer Shah Rukh Khan, Mirza opted to work with Shahid. Well, the director definitely spotted a spark of talent in the budding actor. Shahid also happens to be the only budding actor to be paid the highest sum for a film. Insiders have it that UTV wanted to crack a deal with Kapoor for a very long time. "They had approached him earlier but Shahid could not make any kind of commitment. Today UTV is ready to pay three times more so that Shahid can give them preference on priority basis. And the amount is anything between 15-20 crores," says a senior executive from UTV.

While Shahid is tight lipped about his latest deal and says he doesn't want to comment on it. "I'm working out some deal with UTV, but can't disclose the figures due to obvious reasons," he says. Well, from stardom to superstardom Shahid is definitely inching his way on the top. Way to go...
