Late night drive for Genelia and Ritesh…

Media has often written about the romantic relationship between Ritesh Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza (pictured left), but the two have denied all such reports.

Ever since the release of their movie “Tujhe Meri Kasam”, which is said to have sparked their romance, the two have kept their feelings under wraps. However, Ritesh and Genelia gave away more than they are willing to when they were caught leaving Tusshar Kapoor's bash on Friday night in the same car.

It so happened that Ritesh and Genelia came to the party around midnight, but in separate cars. She came alone in her own car while he came along with Sajid Khan.

Even at the party they hung around with separate sets of people and did not let anyone get a hint of their closeness.

At 1.30 am, Ritesh left the party and got into his car. Genelia left after 10 minutes and she too entered Ritesh's car and told her driver to follow.

Wonder where they went that late?

Riteish goes North

Riteish Deshmukh will soon be shifting to a spacious 3BHK apartment in Juhu.

Says Riteish, “We are just trying to finish the renovation of my new home. It’s an apartment in JVPD (Juhu Scheme).” When asked if it was a 3BHK, he sidesteps the query with, “It’s a modest apartment and a nice space,” he smiles.

Less is more

Even thought the actor is a qualified architect himself, he’s not designing his pad. “I have tied up with another architectural firm, 4 By 4, to do the interior designing because everyone needs new ideas and better architects. There are lots of brainstorming sessions happening about what I want and what they think etc.”

No clutter, please

Ritiesh doesn’t believe in clutter or glass-and-chrome finishes. According to him, chrome fittings are for offices. “I love space, contemporariness, openness and minimalist designs. Homes should be warm and spacious and not cluttered with antiques and candles.”

However, he points out, “I love living with my parents. I bought this place because all the film shootings are in the suburbs and travelling takes a lot of time. I end up travelling for about four hours a day. If I am shooting this side, I will stay over at my apartment. Otherwise, I will be at my parents’ home.”

Perfect wedding

Riteish then talks about his older brother Amit who got married to Aditi last month, “It was perfect. It was the first wedding in the family and we were involved in everything from sending the invites to getting the venue and the food ready and the food. I wanted to be part of it so I took time off from work.”

Ab meri baari!

He wore a green Varun Bahl outfit at the reception and at the wedding ceremony, he donned an ensemble by Narendra Kumar.

Riteish too received his fair share of attention at the wedding. “At the reception, everyone would wish Amit and Aditi and then come and tell me, ‘Abhi aap ke baari hai.’ After the fifth guest, I started telling them ‘Haan, pataa hai, ab meri baari hai.’ Fortunately, my parents are not pressurising me to get married now,” he laughs.

You’re welcome

There were also apparently 8000 gatecrashers who turned up uninvited at the reception. Ritiesh says, “Dad is the CM and there are lots of followers and well-wishers who came for the wedding. Everyone who were present at the wedding were most welcome to be a part of the reception. We were more than happy to see everyone there.”

Sajid Khan's next stars Akshay, Deepika and Riteish

After Chandni Chowk to China, this will be Akshay and Deepika's second film together. It is going to be a multistarrer,” says an exhilarated Sajid Khan. The film will also have two more heroines and one more hero.

Riteish installs hi-tech scanning device in his bedroom

Becomes the first B-Town star to install one; SRK to follow in his foot'prints'

Technology is the key, especially to B-Town stars like Riteish Deshmukh, who may well be the first star in Bollywood to have an electronic fingerprint scanner installed for his bedroom and wardrobe!

In use

Talking about it, Riteish says, “I have been looking at various types of electronic fingerprint scanners to install in my wardrobe.
I have one in my bedroom (he resides at Malabar Hill). I am also an architect and it is my job to keep abreast of all new technologies. I had read about the electronic finger print scanners in magazines and have seen some in operation in the sample flats of some buildings that I have designed.”

Like a key

An electronic fingerprint scanner, Riteish explains, is like a key. “Instead of the key, you use a fingerprint to enter your house or room in my case, open my wardrobe. The fingerprints are scanned and retained in the memory of the scanner. It’s like if there are five members of a family there will be five sets of fingerprints in the scanner. If you have a big bedroom and don’t want household help to enter, you can have it installed at the door. The fingerprint scanner will activate when you put your finger on it before entering the room.”

No loopholes, please

Riteish says he wants to install the scanner in his wardrobe because sometimes, he misplaces the keys. “I am in talks with the people marketing the product in India. Right now, we are working out the loopholes – like how the carpenter will work it in, what happens if it doesn’t work after installation, etc. Once everything is smoothened out, I will install it.”

This makes him the first B-Town star to use such a device. “I had no idea about that,” says Riteish, who is currently shooting for Sujoy Ghosh’s Aladdin.

It is learnt that the system, made by a German manufacturer, costs anywhere between Rs 10 to 15 lakh depending on the area it is operational under. Mostly, corporate organisations and other heavy security buildings employ fingerprint scanning devices.

SRK gets secure

Buzz is that Shah Rukh is getting a similar system installed at Mannat, his residence. He is considering installing electronic surveillance. SRK wants to take the prints of close friends Karan Johar, Farah Khan and others to ensure they get uninterrupted access to his house.

Apparently, Riteish has already completed two days of shoot for Chamku and will be required to shoot for another five to six days next month. “Bobby and Riteish are best pals. After Ritesh Deshmukh, another politician's son enters filmdom

Ritesh Deshmukh is an inspiration for all politicians' sons who want to make it big in the film world. Son of minister Ram Vilas Paswan, Chirag is all set to enter the world of glitterati. This new entrant in Bollywood is confident, that though he has an influential dad to support him, he is adamant to make it big with his own talent.

This 25-year old boy has always been attracted to our cine- duniya , and his first movie will be produced by television actor Anuj Saxena. Confident about his acting debut Chirag says, "Acting was my dream since I was a kid. I always wanted to be an actor. Today I feel very lucky and proud to be a part of the industry now."

Speaking about his debut film, Chirag says, "The script is still being readied, once they are done with that, they will decide who the director will be. We are planning to release it in 2009."

A computer engineer, Chirag doesn't have any acting experience. Neither has he undergone rigorous training. "But I'll be enrolling myself in an acting class soon, as I think I need to polish myself a bit. Otherwise acting is an inborn talent, and I think I have it in me."

So was his entry into Bollywood all thanks to his powerful politician father? "I'll not shy away and say that it doesn't help to be the son of a known man. In fact it helps a lot. Yes, the entry has been easy because I am someone's son, but sustaining is going to be the hard part. Everything depends on your potential and caliber."

But wouldn't a politician's son want to sit on the politician's chair some day instead of sizzling on screen? What kept him away from politics? Chirag replies. "I've never said no to politics. In future, I will get into politics too. There are very few lucky people who can work for their country. I would like to contribute my efforts towards my country, too and that I will someday."

Miss Sri Lanka to make debut in Bollywood with Aladdin

Ayesha Takia’s loss is former Miss Sri Lanka Jacqueline Fernandez’s gain. After things did not work out between Ayesha and director Sujoy Ghosh for the director’s new film Aladdin, the two parted ways. Sujoy was looking out for a leading lady for quite some time and finally he zeroed in on Miss Sri Lanka 2006 Jacqueline Fernandez.

This will be Jacqueline Fernandez’s first stint in acting and Aladdin seems to be a really good debut for the lass.

Back in Sri Lanka, she was working as an anchorwoman in a business program called Lanka Business Report and also wrote a weekly column for a top newspaper.

If you recall, a leading film magazine covered reports of Jacqueline Fernandez dating actor Viveik Oberoi. However, that seemed to have died down.

Aladdin stars Amitabh Bachchan playing the genie while Riteish Deshmukh essays the title role. Sanjay Dutt is also a part of this film. Vishal-Shekhar are doing the music.

HEYY BABYY completes 50 days

Even as superstar Akshay Kumar's BHOOL BHULAIYAA continues to do very good business at the box office, his HEYY BABYY has just completed a 50 days run.

After taking second highest opening of the year after PARTNER, this Sajid Khan directed film stayed steady for weeks to come and in the process garnered more than 50 crores in just the domestic market. The film had marked a hat trick of successful films for Akshay Kumar in last few months with BHAGAM BHAG and NAMASTE LONDON preceding its release.

Though the film has completed 50 days at a few centers, this super hit venture for producer Sajid Nadiadwala is now ending it's theatrical run with three new films arriving next week (JAB WE MET, MUMBAI SALSA, NO SMOKING) followed by OM SHANTI OM and SAAWARIYA a fortnight later.

The family entertainer would soon be releasing on specially mastered DVDs which are said to be belonging to international standards when it comes to home entertainment. Watch this space.

HEYY BABYY completes 50 days

Sajid Khan has hit a six with his first full fledged directorial venture.

His HEYY BABYY has now completed 50 days at the box office and earned in excess of 50 crores at the box office. Though the film opened to mixed reviews with some choosing to make absurd statements on the lines of "not being suitable for the family audience", HEYY BABYY worked most due to family audiences thronging the theaters in dozens.

An unquestionable success across the entire country with good profits from A, B as well as the C centers, the film is a certified Superhit and has brought smiles back on the face of producer Sajid Nadiadwala who suffered the JAAN E MANN setback last year.

Hey Baby to release on July 27

Sajid Nadiadwala has proved that friendships in Bollywood are not that frivolous after all. He has proved his solid friendship with Salman Khan by deferring the release of Sajid Khan’s directorial debut Heyy Babyy so that it doesn’t clash with Salman Khan’s home production Partner releasing on July 20 and Hollywood debut Marigold slated to release on July 27. Heyy Babyy was also to release on July 27 which is now slated to release on August 24.

Nadiadwala asserts that he could afford to postpone the release of his film to maintain his 15 year old camaraderie with Salman. The two are known to become good friends during the making of Jeet.

Heyy Babyy has the Nadiadwala favourite Akshay Kumar along with Riteish Deshmukh, Fardeen Khan, Boman Irani and Vidya Balan.

Apna Sapna Money Money - Movie Review

Lock your brains in the cupboard, throw your thinking caps out of the window, fasten your seat belts, hold your breath…

Sangeet Sivan, the man behind the thoroughly enjoyable madcap entertainer KYAA KOOL HAI HUM, is ready to unleash his new masaledaar entertainer on money and diamonds. His new outing, APNA SAPNA MONEY MONEY, belongs to the same family as K2H2, but the difference is, there’re eleven characters this time around. Oh yes, there’s a dog too this time!

Years ago, Brij Sadanah made a rib-tickling comedy with Ashok Kumar and Pran called VICTORIA NO. 203. It was all about the precious diamonds being hidden in a horse carriage [Victoria]. APNA SAPNA MONEY MONEY also charters a similar path. A gangster’s moll hides the booty in her sandal and the assorted eleven characters, not remotely connected to one another, come lusting for it [diamonds] in the end.

Sivan’s fundas are evident at the very outset. APNA SAPNA MONEY MONEY is not for those looking for path-breaking cinema. APNA SAPNA MONEY MONEY is not for the pseudo critics. APNA SAPNA MONEY MONEY is not for the hi-gentry that loves to pop champagne at Page 3 events.

It’s for the aam junta that looks for non-stop entertainment.

APNA SAPNA MONEY MONEY rests on a waferthin plot, but is loaded with nonsensical [and juvenile] humor that makes you laugh at regular intervals. Sure, this comic caper has too many characters and Sivan and writer Pankaj Trivedi’s narrative goes on and on in the second hour. Also, the climax loses its sheen for this very reason [all eleven characters need to have a conclusion after all]. But you overlook the flaws since APNA SAPNA MONEY MONEY was never in the race for the Oscars!

To sum up, APNA SAPNA MONEY MONEY is a decent time pass flick that delivers what it promises: Tadka [glamour], jhatka [skin show], masti [jokes], mazaak [laughter]… most importantly, the escapism form of entertainment that appeals to the hoi polloi.

APNA SAPNA MONEY MONEY revolves around a bunch of madcap characters that eat, drink, sleep and worship money. The story revolves around a mechanic [Shreyas Talpande], a conman [Ritesh Deshmukh], a dancer [Koena Mitra], an upright cop [Suniel Shetty], an obsessed father [Anupam Kher] and his homely daughter [Riya Sen], a tabela owner [Rajpal Yadav], a ruthless gangster [Chunkey Pandey], a deadly don [Jackie Shroff] and his moll [Celina Jaitley] and an unpredictable dog [Casper].

If one runs after money, the other runs after love and the one who runs after love eventually runs after money. A dramatic turn evolves when all the characters start looking for hidden diamonds that are worth Rs. 50 crores.

APNA SAPNA MONEY MONEY defies logic from start to end. Writer Pankaj Trivedi borrows characters and incidents from real and reel life to make a funny film. A few jokes are indeed amusing, but there are times when the gags fail to evoke mirth.

Ritesh and Anupam’s scenes are hilarious. So is the Rajpal Yadav track [he does a takeoff on Big B from SARKAR]. Chunkey’s portions also make you flex your facial muscles. But the love story [Shreyas-Riya] looks lifeless, the Ritesh-Koena prem kahani is equally listless, the don [Jackie] is reduced to a caricature and the climax, which should’ve been thoroughly enjoyable, falls flat.

What also goes against the film is that the narrative lacks the consistent wit-n-humor of KYAA KOOL HAI HUM. Sivan’s execution of the subject is perfect and the idea to make Ritesh change into various get-ups is indeed brilliant. In fact, Ritesh’s final get-up [of Shreyas’ aunt] is the best part of the enterprise. But how one wishes Sivan would’ve [i] Opted for fewer characters, [ii] Utilized the dog in some way or the other, [iii] Opted for a better climax.

Pritam’s music is strictly komsi-komsa. Barring the title track, the film lacks the hit tunes one associates with Mukta Arts’ productions. Ramji’s cinematography is eye-filling. Dialogues are enjoyable at times, but corny at places.

APNA SAPNA MONEY MONEY has so many characters that it’s difficult to carry each one home after the show has concluded. But if there’s one actor who’s bound to make heads turn with a smash performance, it’s Ritesh Deshmukh. It’s a challenge for any actor to portray multiple roles in one film, but Ritesh gets to portray four here and he takes to each role with relish, enjoying every bit of it. He works the best as Shreyas’ aunt who flirts with Anupam Kher.

Anupam Kher is in terrific form yet again. In fact, Anupam is so good here, you actually wonder if anyone else would’ve been able to carry off the part with as much flourish. Chunkey Pandey is fantastic. After watching him in APNA SAPNA MONEY MONEY, all you want to ask him is, Where were you hiding all this while? Rajpal Yadav delivers yet another knockout performance that’s sure to be talked about. Suniel Shetty is lovable as the honest cop.

Amongst ladies, Celina Jaitley is the best of the lot. She looks gorgeous and enacts her role with rare confidence. The girl is gradually evolving into a fine actor. Koena Mitra is alright. But the writer hasn’t done justice to her part. Even Riya Sen is relegated to the backseat.

Jackie Shroff doesn’t work. Shreyas Talpade’s role is oh-so-clean, which looks fake in a film of this genre. However, he enacts his part well. Sanjay Mishra is competent. Vrajesh Hirjee, Vijay Patkar, Bobby Darling and Avtar Gill lend decent support.

On the whole, APNA SAPNA MONEY MONEY is a time pass entertainer targeted at the aam junta. Don’t look for logic in the film and chances are you wouldn’t be disappointed. At the box-office, the patronage by its target audience [masses and youth] as also a favorable opening response should help this medium-budget film make decent profits in the final tally.

Riteish is happy just being a 'man' again

Source: IBNLive

Riteish Deshmukh is aiming for the funny bone with his latest comedy and this time children are invited as well. But after the shooting of Apna Sapna Money Money, Riteish is happy just being a 'man' again.

Aarti Kapur Singh: A comedy yet again but this time children can enjoy it too.

Riteish Deshmukh: Yes, thankfully children are invited, too, now.

Aarti Kapur Singh: So, your sapna is also money, money?

Riteish Deshmukh: I guess in the film every character dreams of making more money and why not.

Aarti Kapur Singh: To what extent would you go in the dream of acquiring money. In this film you have crossed-dressed to do so, was it easy being a woman?

Riteish Deshmukh: It’s always difficult being a woman and it takes a lot to be a woman - right from waxing, threading to wearing a wig and contact lenses. Even trying to find a proper wardrobe was not easy and at the same time try and not look hideous.

Aarti Kapur Singh: So, has your respect for women gone a few notches up after playing a woman on screen?

Riteish Deshmukh: It's not a few notches, it's way way up. And now I totally respect the fact that women take so much time to get ready because I used to take at least two hours to get ready for each shot.

When I waxed my hands I said, 'Oh my God! This is too much'. But at the end of it a waxed hand of a girl is much better than a man’s hairy hand.
